This Privacy Policy explains how HGDG Android Application (“the App”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our services. The App supports university researchers in assessing project gender-responsiveness using the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) questionnaire and automated GAD scoring.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on your use of the App, we may collect the following:
- Account information: name, email address, college/department, and password (or equivalent authentication data).
- User-generated content: research program details (e.g., title, agency, budget, duration) and questionnaire responses used to compute the GAD score.
- Results data: generated GAD score, interpretations, and recommendations.
- Device & usage data (optional): basic diagnostics such as crash logs, performance data, and app version to improve stability and reliability.
2. How We Use Information
- To create and manage user accounts and allow secure access.
- To compute GAD scores and provide interpretations and recommendations.
- To save and retrieve evaluations in the Research Archive feature.
- To improve app functionality, usability, and performance.
- To respond to support requests and user inquiries.
3. Data Storage and Security
We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
If the App uses a cloud database (e.g., for saving evaluations), access controls are enforced to help ensure only authorized users can view their data.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following cases:
- With service providers that help operate the App (e.g., hosting/database, analytics, crash reporting), under appropriate safeguards.
- For legal compliance when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
- To protect rights and safety of users, the institution, or the public, when necessary and lawful.
5. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the App’s functionality (e.g., saving and retrieving evaluations) or to comply with legal or institutional requirements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to applicable rules and policies.

- Access and update your profile information within the App (if available).
- Request deletion of your account and stored evaluations (subject to verification).
- Opt out of optional diagnostics/analytics if such options are provided.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for university research and evaluation use and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Effective date” above and may provide additional notice within the App where appropriate.
